I eat a Snickers bar (or two) and tell myself I'm worth it. (That's the truth!)

A nice long run. A glass of wine. Some chocolate. Sushi. Guacamole. A new haircut. But, when those can't be found, a nice hug works just fine.

Yvonne De Carlo is one of the most beautiful women that has graced this planet. IMHO.  :)

Yes, mine too  ... just last week I got tired of hearing about this pool screen he wanted.. so I walked in the house and called the people and said be here, put the darn thing on (they are here as we speak) my dh said, yes but you did it out of anger.. I said hmm then show me how it should be done lol.. tomorrow we are going to look at the bench I've been watching for 6 months now. After he committed to that I said oh lookie my new knife set just came today.... I'd like to mention that I've had some of my knives since we were married

What about the pool fence lol.     Hope you can find one in somewhere in the USA.   Although we do have the best fencing materials here in Australia.

A cup of coffee and 2 chocolate frogs last night was lovely.    (we also have a frog plague at the moment of the real kind ).       Tonight I will go for the big hug,  a reminder about what is comforting to us is important.

If I lived in Australia I would have the fence of my dreams... I sent the homeowners association a couple photos of what we want.. they aren't sure and why.. because no one else has a fence like this.. I said yes but that's not the point the point is does it meat all criteria?

LOL.. Luise, he still trust me with knifes, he'll even turn his back when I'm busy chopping slicing and dicing.. it's my own fingers that don't trust me.

I'll fix that...but I'd rather have food in my shoe than a frog! That used to happen in Florida with salamanders, too.

and land crabs.. they were forever coming up from the water when I was  young. But the worse in florida are the palmetto bugs, cocka-roaches to some.

Here is a sample of the fence.. ours would only be 48" tall and only on two sides of the pool.. we are thinking about a cable system on the other two sides... this fence is steel slats.. if they don't approve it then I think we are going to go with wood slats and the cable fence

Whenever I hear someones from Queensland , my heart sinks.    How do the people involved get the strength to rebuild there lives?     Now we have the tragedy in New Zealand ,    the lives lost, the magnificent city of Christchurch.
How did you fare in the floods?

You must have cane toads the monsster of them all.... How do you get by with them?   We in NSW fear they may have washed from QLd downstream in the floods.....
Happy Saturday,

You would be screaming like a girly girl.. these things are huge and they fly.. It's like getting taken down by a pterodactyl and in Florida they are more common then coconuts.  We still have them in Texas but not in the same numbers.  Horrible horrible things, this was the one time I swear that God was just screwing with us.

My gorgeous neighbour is 76 and was stickpicking a paddock.  (clearing)    When i turned up (after the work was done) not intentially though she tore her pants off thinking she had a snake up her trouser leg.   It wasn't a snake (which is on the cards) it was a 8cm centipede....I think they have 26 legs

Kirk and Sandy have those Centipedes in Hawaii. They 8 - 10 inches long and move fast. They had netting over their bed...tucked in and one got underneath and into the bed and bit Sandy's ear. They are poisonous! I would never move there! How did we get into these horror stories. I won't sleep tonight and there is nothing in W. Washington except some little garter snakes and some anemic mosquitoes.

Chihuahua have got to be the cutest and most useless dogs on earth.  Chibi sat outside today with the men that were here working on my pool netting... I walked out there once and she is laying in the middle of the pile of netting that they were sewing on.. The man kept saying.. she's fine she's fine

I enjoyed reading your posts here ladies! Too funny! But yuk, centipedes, huge roaches that fly, snakes...yikes. I too loved Mrs. Munster! Beautiful and graceful lady. I got to "doggie sit" and "kitty sit" this weekend, while taking care of ex sis in law and great friend after a surgery. Most lovely pets they are too, useless perhaps, but sweet and gentle and I would love to take them all home with me! I would not care for anything living being in my shoes though eeeeekkkkk. Have a lovely day ladies.

We have two little frogs :  one lives in the garage (dh puts water out for her)  and one somehow sneaks onto the edge of the hottub.  Its been cold of late so haven't seen them in a while.  They are so sweet!

Once I walked into the kitchen and there was one sitting on annies (bichon frise) water dish having a drink.

Tara, frogs are so cute I used to love them and we didn't have any before we moved here and I would try to attract them as I loved their ribitt ribitt ribbit.     Now I can count 40 odd without any trouble on our doors at night,  (where the insects gather).     We have them in our loos every day, we have to put "frog stop" down them but that only works for one flush.    The girls squeal when they are in the loo,   I shared my shower with one last night,  poor little bugger what a site that must have been!!     I picked up the dishcloth yesterday in the kitchen and their was one under it.     Our recent heavy rain..minor flooding has brought them in plague proportions.    The frogs attract the snakes but I have recently heard the snakes say there'e  are sick of eating them.      How many frogs could one eat really?  My neighbour tells me they are a sign of a healthy enviroment!!  They will disappear when winter comes.  Frog fact.......frogs freeze in winter and thaw when the weather warms.

I love all the frogs and toad stories!  I can imagine they are a sign of a healthy environment.
How interesting that they freeze in the winter and thaw out in the summer.  who would have suspected.

Does anyone do worm composting?  (vermaculture)?  I started doing it a few years ago and we feed our
garbage to the worms in this bin and they eat it and create composte and 'worm tea' you can put on
your plants and in the garden.

Here is what it looks like.  Oprah had a whole green show once which I was watching and when they showed this and the worms you could keep under your sink she and the other women screamed!  lol

Worms are the ideal pets, they eat only scraps, you don't need to take them for walks,  they are fairly quiet, don't disturb the neighbours,  and you don't need a license to keep them, and their manure and "worm juice" is amazing growth promoter and fertilizer.    Yes we have worms.     I had a vermiculture business for a few years 4 x 3m beds.    I would get manure  from stables and fallen fruit from orchards by the boxful.     I sold the worm boxes and worms with them.      We went on holidays and a water pipe broke so they all died.      I have had them since on a smaller scale. I use an old bathtub, bit larger.  it works well.  You put a bottle under the plug hole to collect the juice.

How did we go from  the topic Re: How Do You Try To Restore Some Happiness to frogs, snakes, worms and fences??  Whatever makes you happy I guess

To answer the OP, DH and I did lists a long time ago of things we want to do before we die.  All kinds of things, from really big stuff to little stuff.  When we need a pick me up we usually do something off the list or start planning/saving for a big thing.  It helps me b/c I like hope and things to look forward too.  So it's a constant reminder of things I want to do that have yet to be done.

The worm tea is supposed to the the elixer of the garden.  I pour it on anything I want to thrive!  also, compost gets made when
the worms eat the old veges and then you use that too.  The worms like coffee grounds and at a detox workshop where they taught organic gardening they told us that the coffee grounds make the worms feel sexy and then reproduce more   :) :) :) :)  now and then I get some  grounds from starbucks for them.
