I thought it might be an interesting idea to at least for one day try to hold us to account to be nice to ourselves.
I'll start - Today I made time for myself and did my nails before I got ready and left for the morning. This evening I intend to make time for myself go to watch the sun go down.
Wishing you all the best! xo
Lovely! Today I rook the bus to my fitness center, Curves...for the first time this week. I have many friends there and had a wonderful time. :D
Today I went to a luncheon with some friends The theme was 50's .I wore a poodle skirt and bobby socks
:D
Luise, what a fun and energetic thing to do! Nikncon, that sounds like a riot, amazing! xo
Oh what fun! I'm chiming in late, so I haven't had a chance to do anything yet today except go to work! Lol. A month ago, I was asked to help coach a 9-10 year old girls softball team. I played for 32 years and coached for 8, but I haven't done it in the last 8 years. It's been tons of fun to do it again and the girls are so funny.
So we are supposed to have our first game tonight, but the weather isn't cooperating. So that would be what I am going to do for myself today, enjoy coaching and the company of 13 girls that like to laugh. If we get rained out, then I will spend the evening with DH doing something fun.
:D It's a new day. I'm making myself blueberry oatmeal! :D
:) What a nice positive topic! Today I played golf for the first time this year. The sun was shining but there was an icy wind. So I played a lousy game,...but still it felt wonderful to breath in the fresh crisp air, walk briskly, and hit that ball in all the wrong directions. hahaha...it was a good day. :D
I got myself an order of Coconut Shrimp and a wonderful Calzone!!! So good and there goes the diet!!! LOL
Love this thread! This morning I was amazed to see all the native trees in bloom, I was afraid I'd missed it while out of state in rain & snow (brrr!) all last week. I made a cup of wonderful coffee, went outside & took a deep breath of (warmer) spring air. Glorious!
I sat in my living room for SIX HOURS and visited with a dear friend who came up from Seattle. :-)))))))))))))))))))))
All great things! I did a spot of gardening in the afternoon as the sun was setting. xo
I love this thread!
I started a Meetup group in my neighborhood for crocheting/knitting - first meeting was yesterday, and two people actually showed up! There are also people signed up for next week. So much fun!
And today, I spent a little bit of time in the morning listening to an uplifting audio book, and did a whole half an hour of meditation. It snowed last night and this morning, and I focused on the trees, which looked magical, instead of the slush on the sidewalk, lol. A good day.
DH and I made our 2 1/2 yr old GD an "Easter egg" tree! It is right outside my window so I can look at it while I'm on the computer. DH is working tomorrow so it's going to be all about me!
Took the bus to Curves (I don't drive any more) and had a great time. I do that every day but it's still a treat. :D
I went to Walmart and walked around for an hour and bought a few things.
Good for us! We're doing so well ;D. You've all inspired me to focus on the positive re: DS & DIL and not the negative today. One day at a time.
I'm going to take my lovely cappuccino outside this morning. Lilacs are blooming!

I'm really looking forward to when it's light outside at the time that I'm usually having coffee! Right now it's usually still dark when I walk to the bus, but the up side is that there's still sunlight when I leave work in the afternoon. Just got back from walking around outside for a few minutes. Just stood there and held my face up to the sun for a little bit. Heavenly!
We are stuck deep in snow over here. A perfect day for me to work on my photos and films. I belong to a movie making club, and have been behind in my assignments. I love that feeling of accomplishment. :)
Wow Luise! You go to curves! You are amazing in so many ways.
Elsie, just want to wish you loads of fun and luck with your new found crocheting/knitting group. Great that you took the initiative!
Went out for lunch with a friend.Shared some of my thoughts.
Made myself some popcorn the old fashioned way on top of the stove using coconut oil! :D
Spent the day shopping for odds and ends for the house. I have some new furniture in my sunroom (all my presents for the year) and I needed some pillows and this and that. Found a neat metal table at Ross for one end of the sofa. It has been snowing off and on all day here (Atlanta area), just small flakes but it is snow, so I enjoyed that.
I am new to this site but am so enjoying it and what a wonderful topic!! I haven't done aything for
myself today - but tomorrow I am going to get my hair done then get my nails done. Talk about
decadent!! Being Scottish there is always a little bit os guilt about being so self indulgent - but I am
just old enough to realise that life is not a rehearsal!! So all you ladies out there - go on - have a
''spoil myself day!! Enjoy!!
BC - You gave yourself WWU today!
Today I made some time to tend to my garden and had a relaxing bubble bath. xo
Today I worked out with the US Women's gymnastics team, had lunch @ the White House and flew first class to Paris to pick up my new Luis Vuitton handbag and luggage set.
April Fool's! Have a great day, everyone ;D ;D ;D
I was so tickled that you took me with you, Pen! Thanks, again! ;)
Today, I didn't cuss when I came back to find my inbox and desk full of stuff to catch up on! :)
;D lol...Pen!
OMG, Pooh! Do you still have an ice box? I'd suggest you stop buying ice and get a refrigerator! :D :D :D
I might just try that :)
Pen and Pooh, you both gave me a good laugh, thanks! xo
I just finished a Jo Dunning Webinar. Wow! :D
Today I am trying to pack for a week in Myrtle Beach, SC. We meet a couple in November on a cruise and they invited us to meet them there (they have a timeshare and we have our own space) for the week. We had a lot in common with them, so we are looking forward to it.
That sounds wonderful, F! Have a fabulous time!
Today my son, and our Webmaster, is coming to take me out to eat and to shop a little. They moved back over to Washington State last fall after living on Kauai for 17 years...and I just love that they are only 45 minutes away...instead of in the middle of the Pacific. :)
I'm getting a manicure at lunch!
Made New Friends today: Met a mentally challenged woman on the bus to Curves. She liked my Community Transit Card holder and extension wrist bracelet, so I offered to send her one. She couldn't write when I handed her paper and pen, but she knew her address. She wanted four but wasn't sure that was enough, so I am sending her seven and one of my extension bracelets. (I had to buy a whole box of them when I only wanted one.)
A Spanish American guy on the same bus got a real kick out of my having to get a whole box of them. He said he has to wear glasses from all the years of reading small print! LOL!
I put myself on a really strict budget about 5 years ago and rented an apartment in a building without an elevator. My apartment is on the third floor at the end of two long hallways which was the best thing I could find at the time and the stairs were good exercise.
I've recently developed some problems in my feet, likely plantar faschitis. (Fancy term for "The Soles of My Feet Hurt Like Blazes.") Dragging my groceries up a few dozen steps has always been a hassle, but it's been so much worse in the last few weeks because my feet aren't as strong as they used to be.
Today I went out to look at a couple of new apartments (with elevators)!! and hope to be able to move into one sometime this summer. That's my Mother's Day Gift to myself, looking for a new apartment with an elevator. Ta Da!!
KG
Today Kirk sent me this and I watched it. Can't stop smiling:

Thanks Louise - love that utube and its message!
Thanks, Luise and Kirk, truly inspiring.
Very inspiring Luise. We can all learn from this young man and his instructor.
KeysGirl. So happy for you.You will enjoy your Mother's Day gift for a long time.Hugs:))
DH and I went to the DeSoto Seafood Festival in Bradenton Fl.Had a very nice day.

Smellin' the lilacs :) Today I will plant some herbs a friend gave me and enjoy the day off.
:) My first Fuchsia blossom burst forth today... she's indoors until Mothers Day, after spending the winter in my storage shed. Happly Spring! :)
I started planning my trip to Disney in the fall!
Visited a few garden centers today. Also bought a table cloth for our new garden table. I've been working so hard on or taxes the last week, so this was a real treat for me. :)
Splurged on fish and chips for dinner!
KG
Went to measure the rooms in my new apartment!!
Just had a piece of sugar free chocolate cake with Cool Whip on it. :D
Yesterday DH & I went for a walk to a local cafe and grabbed a cup to go. We went for a walk around the bushland near where we live and sat in a shady spot among the trees and enjoyed our coffee and a chat. It was a lovely way to round off our afternoon.
DH and I spent Saturday simply as a "Play Day". Had one destination in mind, a local car/craft show and ended up going all over town playing after that. Went to a local putt-putt course with all the silly obstacles and laughed soooo hard.
We "grew" a bunch of wisteria today. I have an arbor over my patio that we had planted wisteria to grow over and around it. Well it did, and took a fence with it and almost the arbor. Had to cut it all out and reinforce the arbor posts. Over the last few days DH has been putting branches on top of the arbor. Today we "hung" the wisteria. Looks like home again!
Recovering from a busy weekend. Had my cousin and his family here for 4 overnights. Then we attended a family reunion. It was wonderful, but it's good to come back to an empty nest too. Aaaah peace and quiet. :-)
On Sunday DH and I went to a town two and a half hours away and bought a very nice 28 ft fifth wheel.Happy trails coming this summer.

Oh, goody, Nik!!!!!! :D :D :D :D
I keep warning my DH that I want to do that Nik. He hates camping...I mean loathes it....Lol. The only camping he has memories of is pup-tents and mosquitos. I keep telling him that he wasn't doing it right! Hee hee.
We love camping!! We call camping from a motor home or pull behind "luxury" camping though! Most of our camping is primative and by canoe. Not much in the way of comforts but, oh, the views are incredible!!
We went out and bought ourselves each a new IPad... I got a white one he got a black one. We both have laptops, but now I can play Candy Crush and Angry birds!!!! Any one else addicted to Candy Crush??? I've been stuck on level 70 for over a week.
When Val and I married, 24 years ago, I was 62 and he was 78. I was a full time RV-er traveling alone when we met. He had a little 16' trailer that he and his wife had used to get to where they were going in the least amount of time possible to visit family and friends. They got up before dawn and stopped after dark...and he once told me the view across our gorgeous country was "yellow line in the middle, white line on the right." ???
When we married, we sold his place and got a park model trailer in a camping club for our home base. I agreed (volunteered) to do all of the driving, setting up and tearing down. Val agreed (volunteered) to do all of the dog walking, photography and cooking. I picked out the motor home of my dreams, a one ton, Toyota Sunrader that passed everyone on the hills and then passed them again at the gas stations. 8) I taught him to sleep late in the morning, set up camp early in the afternoon and to stay over in the parks we liked for more than one night. We found one spot, right on the beach on the Pacific Ocean, where we stayed 18 months! We (I) drove everywhere; from across Canada...to New England... to the Grand Canyon, (which he had never seen), and had a glorious first five years! :D
After Val died two months ago, I got glass tops for my little dining room table and buffet. I've placed photographs under the glass of our motor home and of our many trips. Wonderful memories not shut away in an album but enjoyed every day!
Luise, I just LOVE your story!!! You are incredible WOW WOW! RVing alone, setting up everything yourself,..well I have just made you to my role model.
We RV too! I will think of you when I try to learn how to do everything, just incase my husband can't anymore. So it is possible for a woman to do it alone? We have a caravan, so parking or driving backwards is a bit more complicated, but I can learn it. ?
Pretty cool that there are so many campers here. This is our second year, and it is one of the things that make our marriage bond. Although, I have to admit, I'm glad the caravan is so big, so that we once in a while can escape each other. Lol
Luise,I love the idea of the glass table with the photos. You can look at them anytime. No albums to pull out.Must try that.Do you have a photo of the table? xx
FS - The reason we had a motor home was I couldn't back up a trailer! LOL!
Nik - It's a drop leaf table . I have glassed the center...in two pieces of glass, so I can remove and clean it easily.
What a lovely idea, Luise! Today I ignored my alarm and set it to snooze, it was delightful! xo
I am off to do some aqua fit classes in a nearby pool at a fitness club. I did a class on Tuesday and it was a ton of fun, about 30 or 40 ladies all exercising and singing along to the 70's and 80's hits music provided by the instructor.
It's helped the problems I've had in my feet, it's a fun way to spend 45 minutes and I've heard that workouts in water are much more effective because of the resistance of the water.
KG
Going for a message for my sore neck and shoulder.
Good for you, KG! It also gives your joints a break because it reduces weight-bearing.
I'm going on an adventure today with my son, Kirk...(our Webmaster.) He a real fun-guy. :)
Wow, I'm so proud of us! Good job, ladies!
Today I went to exercise class even though I didn't want to and I feel so much better (work has been a little stressful.) Yesterday I got my hair done after putting it off for a month. Yay!
Luise, my dream home is a Tumbleweed house, which is basically a house-shaped camper. What you described sounds like heaven!
I've put in 11-15 hour days at work for the last week and a half, but yesterday I left at 4:30 and went window shopping and took myself out to dinner. Leaving at 5 today, and am planning to make good sleep my first priority all weekend. The cat boxes and laundry have waited this long, they can wait a couple more hours, lololol!
I stopped to smell the roses today. I had surgery last week and all went well. That was one step back, ..but I have taken five forward. :)
Feel better soon FS, and glad everything went ok.
Me and DH drove a total of 2,017 miles, round trip to visit YS, DIL and GS since he arrived home safely this week. I'm a zombie today, but soooooo worth it. :)
FS, hope your healing is helped by Spring.
It is morning here, I am going to sit in our back yard and admire the new hanging baskets for a little while. Then I have work to do.
I like playing Candy Crush and Pet Rescue on Facebook. Trouble is they are so addictive.
Hope the aqua fit is helping KG - still thinking of you! xo
Glad to hear that your surgery went well FS - thinking of you too! xo
Today I was at home so I listened to some music and did a heap of house work and got really stuck into it and was singing along and shaking my tooschie as I went. I had the house to myself and I had a ball! xo
Hello Luise? Just wondering. it's pretty quiet around here...or are you on vacation? Hope all is well. Just thinking of you. :)
FS- I was in California 8) for a three day workshop learning to do an energy technigue to manage pain. I want to be proactive as I age. Back last night. There's more about my trip and a photo in Grab Bag titled: "Greetings From California." That's what I've been doing for myself. :)
