Hi everyone. I know I have been very scarce for the last couple of months, but there have been some major things going on in my life. Work has just been downright crazy and keeping me totally bogged down. My Dad is getting ready to undergo some treatment for colon cancer and the main thing is that DIL has had some problems the last few weeks with the pregnancy. Between all of that, I just haven't found much time to post. I have been reading when I can and trying to keep up with all of you.
Ok, sooooo....FDIL is now DIL. We had some semi-scary news about a month ago that there was some issues. With some careful monitoring and many, many doctor appointments, my grandson arrived two days ago. He is healthy but little. They knew he would have to come early, but we've been holding him in as long as possible. The decision was made to go ahead and take him two days ago. Both him and Mom are perfectly fine. Because of what was going on, we were able to send an emergency message through the proper channels and get YS home early. So we went ahead and did a small ceremony last week when he got here and he made it for the birth.
My Dad was doing a routine checkup and they discovered several polyps on his colon. They removed them, but one larger one did come back cancer. So he has an appointment with a specialist Friday after Christmas to go from there. He's ok, and they said they have caught it early so we expect everything to be just fine.
So I have just been super busy. Other than that, everything is great and I feel very blessed that GS was able to stay in until he was healthy enough to make his appearance. I'm already smitten and it was the best Christmas present one could ask for.
It has really put my life in perspective right now and the combination of being scared for GS and Dad has really opened my eyes to letting go of everything else.
I wanted to wish all of you the best of holiday seasons and challenge you to take a good look around you for the blessings in your life. There are plenty of them to be found, they just get pushed behind the bad stuff many times. My challenge is for you to pull them back to the front and let the bad things fall behind. I promise if you do that, the good things will so overpower the bad stuff that you will not even be able to see it any longer.
Miss you guys!
So happy about the wedding & the birth! Congratulations, Gran :) Also, I'm glad they discovered your dad's colon cancer early. It's amazing what they can do these days if they get it soon enough. It's good to hear from you, Pooh. You're right about the blessings. Even in pretty dark times, even if we have to dig, we can find something to be grateful for.
CONGRATULATIONS, POOH! :-))) And thanks so much for the catch up. Have (figuratively) been holding my breath!
Glad to hear the good updates! What a great Christmas gift! J
Congratulations on the birth of your lovely new grandchild!! Sending lots of love and good vibes to you and your beloveds.

Hi, LL! I hope all is well with you. It was nice to see your name pop up on recent posts :) Happy New Year to you!
Yes...we miss you! Sending love...
Aww , thank you . Sometimes I need reassuring that I am a nice person and coming here amongst friends is a great tonic when I'm a little down . I don't think I deserve some of the kicks I've had lately and those few kind words mean the world to me . Onward and upward , thanks guys .
Pooh: Always great to see your posts, your wisdom helps many of us hang in there. Admire your strength.
LL: Sending you all the best wishes for getting over the bumps in the road and for a great 2013
LL, sorry to hear you've had some disappointments or struggles. We're here for ya! Best wishes. Onward & upward indeed!
Congrats to you, dear Pooh! Blessings abounded! Hugs to you, dear sister;)
Thank you everyone! GS is still doing great and he gained a couple of ounces this last week :) That doesn't sound like much, but he came home at a whopping 5 lbs 6 oz, such a little fellow. YS leaves tomorrow, so him and DIL are having a night out tonight and I am going to tough it through and babysit....hee hee.
Dad saw the specialist and has been busy running to tests. They did a CAT scan to rule out that it had traveled to his liver or lungs and a pulmonologist (sp ?) yesterday to check further on his lungs. Apparently the specialist said the type he has is very aggressive and will travel up to the liver and lungs, so just precautionary. The specialist is going to do surgery next week and remove larger areas to be sure they got it all. The report came back that the margins were not all the way clear. It will be a major surgery with a 4-7 day stay and he'll have to wear a colostomy bag for 6 weeks to give the colon time to heal. So any extra good wishes you have, send his way for clear reports and fast healing. We're supposed to hear the results of the scans hopefully by tomorrow.
LL, so good to see you and I know how strong you are! You've got this!
I hope everyone had a great new year!
Wow, Pooh, you are really in the sandwich situation with a darling little one and then your DS and besides all that your precious dad going through all this. So much responsibility for you right now...sending lots of good wishes to you and your family for strength and good health in 2013.
Thank you Begonia. I'm really feeling that old saying "running like a chicken with their head cut off" right now, but I'm good. Oh, and the other news? I told a long time ago how I loved animals and how my DH loved them but never had one or wanted one in the house. Totally against it so when I married him I knew that was the end of pets. It was truly ok, because everything else about the man is more than wonderful, so I figured a small price to pay.
Guess what one of my presents was for Christmas? A KITTEN!
a Kitten! pics please!!!! You are so loved, pooh! Can ya feel it:) Hugs! and furry hugs too;)
I'll see if I can get a couple to upload. He got it from our local shelter and she is soooo sweet.

:D :D :D THANKS! TOTALLY ADORABLE!!! :D :D :D
Dear Pooh, Congratulations on becoming a Grandma, you baby GS is so licky to have you. I know you will have so much fun together.
Your kitty, Sassy, is just adorable. I bet it won't be long before she winds your DH right round her tiny paw.
Have you ever read the Minack Chronicles by Derek Tangye? I read all of his books, starting with A Cat in the Window. He was a cat hater but changed his mind when his wife got a beautiful kitty called Monty. He wrote up until he died many years later about all their cats.
I wish you a very happy 2013, it is going to be a very busy one! I do hope you will find time to pop in to WWU when you have a spare moment. (((HUGS))) Faith
No, I haven't Faith, but I will definately check them out! Thanks!
Busy here. Dad had his surgery Thursday so it's been nothing but running back and forth to the hospital for me. He's doing ok. They had to take more than they thought and have had issues with his blood pressure and such, but he's doing ok. In a lot of pain and pretty nauseaus, but all in all, he's recovering.
Hi Pooh, I do hope your Father continues to make a good recovery. You have such a lot on your plate right now.
Sassy is so sweet I hope she is giving you lots of kisses and furry purry cuddles.
Love Faith xxx
Good thoughts your way, Pooh :)
Warm wishes for you and your Daddy!
Sending him all kinds of goog Juju, P!
Sorry I missed your posts for a few weeks - sending my best wishes to your dad for a swift recovery.
Also: KITTEH!!!!!!!
Sassy is the perfect name!
:) Thank you!
I hope your DF is making good progress. How is Sassy getting on?
DF is doing well. One incision got an infection so they had to remove the stitches to let it drain, but it's healing nicely now.
Sassy? Right now we are in "I want to see how much trouble and chaos I can create". Typical kitten behavior of playing. She likes my bedroom curtains...which has become a war and my lovely DH thought it was funny when she climbed in the laundry basket while he was carrying a load down. He thought it was so funny that he scooped her up and put her in it on the way back upstairs with it. So it was REALLLLLYYYY funny when I was doing laundry and she jumped in and tumped my laundry basket of folded clothes three times in a row. I let him know how FUNNY I found it!
Hi Pooh, Just wanted to say that I hope that your Dad is doing better. Also, congratulations on your new DGS and DDIL and little Sassy aswell. Her pictures are adorable. Fiesty little ball of mischief, i'll bet! xo
