Well, when I went to pick up my little, 15 year-old, Chihuahua...Me, Too's ashes, my vet, who knew we wanted another pet... asked if I had checked the Northwest Organization for Animal Help, N.O.A.H., because the local shelters all send dogs there. (They don't euthanize.) I stopped on my way home and I found a marvelous Basenji-terrier mix, Rosa. She's 18 months old and very sweet tempered...a "must" because I take my dog to our nursing facility every day to visit Val and the other residents. She was surrendered on the day Me, Too died because her owner was unwell and couldn't care for her any longer. The first shelter spayed her and gave her the required shots and tests and sent her on to N.O.A.H.
We are enrolled in an obedience class which seems silly to me since I have always obeyed my dogs without question. LOL!

ROSA
Luise ..
Hello Rosa !.she is adorable !! I cannot live without a dog either ....we have a llasa apso called Amy ....
hope you'll both be very happy ...which of course you will ....!
Awe, I'm so happy for you, Luise, & Rosie, too. She's one lucky little puppy to have you as her mom! ;)
One of my close friends calls it having to have her "fur-fix!" ;D ;D ;D
Luise this is such a lovely ending...no not an ending hang on... new beginning for you . We just know our new little dog loves us by the way he looks at us, talks and loves a scratch. We know he is eternally grateful we chose him from the pound and he now has a contented life. I was so sure I could never love another little dog after ours was killed, another dog will never replace him but this "new one (it;s 4 years now, is a great companian, I take him to our other little dogs grave and tell him about the one we lost.
Luise, that is wonderful! She is a beauty!
Luise, she is beautiful! For those of us that love animals, pets add so much to our lives. I'm so glad you made the decision to get another dog quickly...you will have many happy years together!

Those eyes! That nose! You're so lucky you get to plant kisses on that little snout!
(We found our rescue kitties on Petfinder.com, where a network of shelters across the country post what I can best describe as cheesecake photos.)
Luise,
Rosa is a beauty and so sweet, thats wonderful.
I'm happy for you.
Rosa's one lucky puppy. She's found a great home and will be good company for you and Val.

Hilarious!
Ohhhh, what a pretty baby!! Please give her skritches for me. You utterly rock for being open to giving this little life a new start with a loving person.
Thank you. She is so smart and so mellow. What a great combination for someone only 18 months old!
I was just thinking that of my DD, Luise. LOL. We must regress after two for a little/long while!

ROSA
How's the new addition, Luise? Is Rosa ruling the roost yet? ;D
She is totally wonderful and learning, learning...learning! ;D
Oh I'm so happy for you Luise! She's beautimous!
That she is! :D :D :D
So what was her gift to you for Mother's Day? I got half a mouse on my doorstep. No card, but I assume it was from the cat.
She stayed at home without complaint when my sort of son took me out to M. D, dinner ! ;)
OK, I guess that's as good as half a mouse, LOL.
;D ;D ;D

Did you pick a name yet? ;D
I'm not sure if people will be able to see this. I wasn't sure how to get the picture in here lol
This is Bo (on left. 7 mo. old Rottie) and his new baby sister Daisy (8 wk. old bluetick beagle). We just brought her home on friday. :-) My house is now filled with "Gentle, Bo, Gentle. She's just a baby." He doesn't know his own strength! But She is feisty and puts him in his place! lol
Congrats ADIL!
Thanks. I sent that on to Kirk, Donna! :D
ADIL, your post included a link that didn't post a photo correctly and was tied back to your fb, so I removed it.
Poo, Pooh! lol How do I post a picture?

You have to upload it to a service like Photobucket (free) and then copy the link it gives you in between the [img] brackets you get when you hit the image button here. I forget where, somewhere in forum support, Laurie gave screen shots and everything on how to do it.
Is that beagle talking yet? :D They are so noisy lol, I love them though. I don't know what a bluetick is, maybe that's the quiet kind. Congrats Adil!
Ok, I found it. It was buried in the topic "House Cleaning as a release" in grab bag! Lol. It looks like some of the screen shots are still missing, and you have to go to like page 12 to start the instructions, but they are there.

Thanks, Pooh. I'll upload one when I get home. Yep, she's a talker, no howl yet though just little puppy grunts lol Blue tick is the type of marking. She has TONS of freckles. :-) Which I adore. :-)
Aren't they wonderful? My Rosa is a Basenji-terrier mix. Basenji's are barkless dogs...but guess who Rosa took after in the dept....yup the terrier. ;D ;D ;D
My llasa Apso rules the roost here ....and barks at shadows !!
lol my pug-beagle mix talks and barks at rain, purple purses, leaves, trees...basically anything outside gets that dog going.
Purple purses ?? Can dogs see colours ? I always wondered .
This one I know can see purple. He doesn't like purple ornaments either, anytime they are on the Xmas tree he either barked nonstop and then eventually knocked the tree down when no one was looking lol.
He is also particular about what shirts I wear but that may be due more to fabric than color lol
Not yet Pam getting close though....I will let you know....your in line for a bathbomb!!!
I really have been gone too long. I'm so sorry about Me, Too.
I am happy to hear you've found a new furry friend. I have Clover, my shepherd mix, and you can guess how much I love her since she's my screen name and photo.
Yes, she's a beauty! For me, moving from a very old dog who slept most of the time to a very young, (untrained) dog that chews all the time has been and continues to be challenging! I am trying to crate-train her so I can leave her alone without coming back to a disaster but so far, she is good in it when I am here and we are doing it for drill but crazy with anxiety when I leave the house. I am reading "Dog Training for Dummies." She will probably get me trained eventually! ;D ;D ;D
LOL
We were wondering when you'd be trained, Luise...
I will let you know when I get my certificate. (I am already certifiable!)
We Miss You Luise !!
you and I know who the real master is ......tail wags for Rosa !
;D ;D ;D ;D
I'm here...I'm here... :)
I would take a Kong, fill it with peanutbutter, and then freeze it. When I had to leave, I put that in the crate with Clover. She spent so much time trying to get the peanutbutter out she forgot all about the fact I wasn't home. The only down side is cleaning up the peanut butter afterwards.
Well, that helps. I have a small Kong and have put penut butter in it but she is fast at cleaning it out. Never thought to freeze it! Thanks! ;D ;D ;D

What is a kong..the only kong I know is King kong
It's a hard, rubber cone shaped (kind of), probably more looks like a bee-hive dog toy. They are used mostly for training but make just excellent toys. They are hollow inside, so you can hide treats, drugs or other smelly stuff to help with training or just for play.
That little bugger (Rosa) got it all out, even frozen, in nothing flat!
My guys can tear up those kongs too. We've been smearing the inside of egg cartons with peanut butter, it's messy but it keeps them entertained for awhile lol.
Oh now that's funny!
lol especially if you do it in a 12 pack soda carton. Fat pug heads stuck in a dr pepper carton walking around, they are silly clowns.
Dogs and babies, I'm entertained so easily!
Rosa would eat the egg carton! ;D ;D ;D
