I heard a story of a mother in law recently who was sending an email about her daughter in law to a friend, she went on and on about how she hated her daughter in law and hated her daughter in laws children so much that she felt her son should leave that family all togethor and she would do what she could to work on him to do this. Mother in law sent to her son by mistake. What a situation! What a family fight! Can you imagine this? I do not think this could ever be worked out or forgotton, no matter what, what do you think of this situation?
I wonder how many of us have done that? Sent an email to the wrong person? Boy, I have! Kirk's wife is Sandy and his ex-wife (and my dear friend, as well) is Sonja. They are right next to each other on my email list. I've pulled some real duzzies!
Sounds like a bad dream - if that happened to me I'd never see DS or DIL again.
People make mistakes. I myself have done this when sending a not so nice email for business & personal.
Only thing to do is fess up to it and apologize face to face.
From the story it sounds as if the wife had children from another marriage/relationship so I am not a 100% sure about that, but if the MIL has issues with the wife that is one thing, to speak bad about the kids that is another ball game and she should not have gone there.
As a side note I once went to a Priest at our church to discuss "Forgive & Forget". Here is what my priest told me. You should always Forgive, you don't always have to Forget. There was of course more to the conversation - but that part is what stuck with me for years and still does to this day!
I have a slightly different take on that. I forgive but I never trust again. Once trust is broken, for me, it it irreparable.
Sending an email to the wrong person is bad enough and a fairly common mistake, but confessing that you hate your daughter in law and plan to actively work on the destruction of your son's marriage is unforgiveable in my opinion.
It sound like a confession of inner-bankruptcy. Why would anyone want to put it into writing?
My mom always said, if you wouldn't want it on the 6 pm news, don't put it in writing. And that was way before email came along.

Very true Luise.
Oh, I just love that 6:00 O'clock News thing!
Once in high school friend and I were passing notes and the teacher took it away and kept on his bulletin board for several weeks! It was all about a boy we both liked that would never even look twice at us. Oh at the time it was the end of the world to us but now we both laugh at it. Teachers probably would get sued for doing that now, but I learned then never to write about anything you do not want on a bulletin board. I think it is a terribly sad story, I am guessing it really hurt son and daughter in law ofcourse and it probably was written by a forgotton ignore jelous woman who blew up and said cruel things that ended up shooting herself in the foot, probably lost son forever over it.
I'd call it karma :o

^^ This.
Can't imagine why a grown woman would sit down at a computer and spew about her family. It is no one's business! I sort of feel sorry for her friend, being dumped on like that.
What really angers me is that she will work on her son leaving his family? This woman clearly needs therapy. Or a job. Some type of life of her own.

Postscript this is funny! Worse than the 6pm news! Did that to herself.
Hey, Happy Days...good to see you!
Mystic I think anyone who would do something like that, most likely deserves the punishment Karma decides upon. I'm big on karma, she visits herself upon the deserving.
I agree. and it's much worse than being aired on the 6pm news. Thats why it was so funny!
Thank you!
It is funny in a way, guess the cat got let out of the bag, but it is sad, wonder how her son when he got wind of that? And his wife? I bet that really hurt, how if at all could that ever be fixed? I would never trust her or welcome her or help her again. I once had something very similiar happen to me and I have not yet had the inner strength to get over what I found out was being said about me and it still hurts and causes anger. I don't think this is something that should be fixed either. You can forgive with out letting people back in and sometimes that is the way it has to be.
