News:

"Welcome to WiseWomenUnite.com -- When adult children marry and leave home, life can sometimes get more complex instead of simpler.  Being a mother-in-law or daughter-in-law can be tough.  How do we extend love and support to our mothers-in-law, adult children, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, and grandchildren without interfering?  What do we do when there are communication problems?  How can we ask for help when we need it without being a burden?  And how do our family members feel about these issues?  We invite you to join our free forum, read some posts... and when you're ready...share your challenges and wisdom."

Grab Bag / Possible WWU Items
July 09, 2012, 11:36:07 AM
Oh, I like that, Scoop. My ring is two Vs for Val Volta with garnet and diamond. I think I will look for a WWU ring! Anyone want to design one and point us to it?  :)

Grab Bag / Spell Check and I.D.Icons
June 29, 2012, 07:32:46 AM
For my use, our Spell Check is currently broken. It no longer has an 'Ignore' option and without that gets stuck at the first word I want to leave in place or grammatical error I want to leave standing. (Like I often to use ... in my posts, as you all know.) I will ask Kirk to see what he can do. He and Sandy arrive here in Washington State for the summer (from their home is Kauai) in 2 hours and 55 miniutes...(but who's counting.  ;)) Some or all of our pictures and icons that appear on our posts at the top left have also disappeared and my guess is that it's related to a recent WWU update. Once Kirk is settled into their little place down the road from me, I will ask for mercy. Sending love...

Please call 911. Your need is immediate and it requires a professional. We are not trained to respond to suicide threats. We don't know what to say and could tip the scale when you are so fragile. This is an emergency. Call 911 right now. Sending love from all of us...

Grab Bag / Movie
June 18, 2012, 11:52:11 AM
Doe - Were you the one that recommended I see the movie 'The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel' if I could get past the accents? If so, thank you SO much. It is one of the best movies I have ever seen and I'm going again on Tuesday (discount day) to see it again to maybe get some of the one-liners I missed. I never as in NEVER see a movie twice! LOL!

Grab Bag / Serendipity Vignette
May 26, 2012, 05:44:47 PM
Memorial Weekend: Feeling kind of alone because it's a family holiday. Was online when I noticed a Quiznos coupon. Large discount/ good for two days. Decided to combine breakfast and lunch and head for town for a Quiznos Adventure. People ahead in line asked me to sit with them. Nice. I showed them my coupon. Lady ahead of them had two polite pre-teens that said "please and thank you" while ordering and I complimented the mom. Lady ahead of me asked me to give her my coupon and said they would order for all three of us on it and I would get mine free. They put me ahead of them in the line and did that. I asked them again if I didn't owe them anything and they said no...enjoy. I walked out with my lunch and the money I had taken out of my piggy bank (end of the month) still in my pocket. And I told them they'd made my holiday! ?

Please remember that we can't reprint anything here because of copywrite laws. (I don't like it, either!)

Grab Bag / Personal Request
March 12, 2012, 12:15:41 PM
OK...many of you posted back to me and showed a serious interest in my new Web-forum at www.AgingWithWisdom.com

Now I need your help. Please take a moment when you have one to create a thread there, so we can get it going. It's just sitting there, sleeping, and Kirk worked his tail off to get it up and running for me on my birthday three days ago.

It was the same when he launched WWU...people from www.MomResponds.com helped me get some momentum. THANKS!!  :D

Grab Bag / Luise's New Web-forum Launched
March 09, 2012, 09:49:12 PM
Kirk launched my new Web-forum today. I invite those of you who are interested in any aspect of the aging process to visit it and post there, if you are so inclined. It will take a while for it to become established and your participation would be a great help.

You will find it at: www.AgingWithWisdom.com . I designed it but Kirk, of course, did all the work. What a guy! What a birthday! :-)

This made my day. I hope it makes yours. (I was especially touched by the "rainy day" sequence. We all know about those!)

Grab Bag / MyFitnessPal
February 16, 2012, 09:11:06 PM
Some of us banded with Pooh a little over six months ago when she posted here that she was going on a free, online diet and fitness program. We've formed a liite WWU, subgroup there at www.MyFitnessPal.com . That's why you see some of us, (not all,) posting our weight loss here.

We are going to use this thread to support each other further...so feel free to join us here and over there, if you wish.

I have been on it from the time Pooh offered us the information and have lost 16 pounds. I was very sick at the end of the summer and off the plan for a while...but I've got my grove back.  :D  If I can learn the program at 85, you can too. I chart my food and exercise...making sure that I burn more calories exercising than I do eating. That's about it. We dialogue over there with each other but lose track of those who drop out. This is a good place for them to reconnect, if they want to. We will probably swap recipes here and share experiences, too.

So, the door's open...y'all come! Sending love...

Grab Bag / Good Movies
January 17, 2012, 10:11:13 PM
I am trying to learn to watch movies on my iMac (I gave my fancy TV away because I never turned it on) and I am looking for suggestions since I have been a halfhearted movie goer at best. Rose has suggested Steel Magnolias and American President. I think I will stick to DVDs for a while before I tackle online streaming, (whatever that is! LOL!) I'm into romantic comedies...and soft (not brutal mysteries.) I don't like sad stuff that makes me cry or scary stuff, either. Any suggestion will be appreciated and duly noted.  :D

When I get enough for a while...I will yell "uncle!" Thanks. Sending love and ppreciation...

Grab Bag / AdSense on WWU
January 11, 2012, 11:00:00 AM
We are all starting to get used to seeing ads on WWU. It's something that just has to go with free Websites because they are very expensive for their owners to maintain. Kirk and I elected to wait almost three years before adding it to WWU to see if we could make it without financial support. It just can't be done (unless Bill Gates becomes interested in us.)

Some of you may find something interesting there...(that's how I originally found Curves.) Some of you may be offended by the links offered...if so, just don't go there. A few of you may not stay and that, of course is your choice. I have had it on my counseling Website, www.MomResponds.com , for over five years and am more used to it than you may be. If you are so inclined, give it a while. We hope most of you decide to stay. Sending love...

Grab Bag / Donations
January 08, 2012, 03:36:38 PM
I recently received a donation from one of you here on WWU. I don't know who because, with the exception of my Moderators),  I only know your User Names. It has happened before and it's always deeply appreciated. Since I honestly need all the help I can get with this ongoing venture, I asked Kirk if he would add a Donation Button, which he did. Please feel free to use it as often as you wish! LOL!

It's strictly up to you, of course. No one will ever have to pay to enter...and no records will be kept regarding who donates and who doesn't. We start year three in May, on Mother's Day. WWU is the joy of my life. Each and every one of you is part of my beloved cyber-family.

My heartfelt thanks to those of you who have contributed in the past and to anyone moved to do so in the future. Sending love...

P.S. I didn't know Kirk was also going to install Google AdSense today. (He's been going to do it for a long time.) I have it on www.MomResponds.com and hope it doesn't detract too much from WWU. We also have it on www.MyFitnessPals.com and it seems OK there. I like that the first ad to came up was for Curves, since I go there almost every day. :-)
