How much do you want to bet that if I give the name Faux Ma at Starbucks some kid will pronounce it Fox Ma

Depends.  What's the probability that a barrista can spell Faux after hearing you say it?

You might end up being Mo' Fo'....I'm so sorry, I couldn't resist.

At this very moment as I type this out~I have not seen or heard from my GC for 4 long years.  They are now 8 and 5.  I would not care what they called me just as long as I could hold them, hug them, love them, talk with them ETC...that is all that would matter to me!!!

LaurieS

4 years, that's a long long time.  I simply could not imagine how that feels, yet I try to always keep in mind that this could be anyone of our lives, if it isn't already.  I'm sorry that this is happening to you, I hope you find something on these boards that will help the situation.  Laurie

You are right....sometimes we worry about little things we would like regarding our gc...but for some with greater issues.... it would be the world to have gc near and be able to hug and kiss them.  I do thank God everyday for having them close....... and I do pray hard that all grandmothers be crowned in their golden years with this blessing.  It is indeed not a priviledge....or a right.....but we earned it simply because we love our children and mother nature made us grandmothers for a reason.....so I think......

And don't forget that there are those of us who actually passed on the privilege. It takes all kinds.

At around 3 years old I dubbed my G-ma "Chickenie Grannie". One day I asked my Mom, "Is Chickenie Grannie coming to our house?" Her mother had passed away years before, so there was no question as to whom I was referring. She asked, "Why did you call her that?" My answer,"She smells like chicken." ;D

My mom and dad have come up with interesting names.  My mom says she wants to be called "Honey Bunny" and my dad (maybe jokingly) wants to be called "Stud-puppy".  I am thinking Nana and Poppy.  :)

Too funny... Honey Bunny and Stud Puppy.. I think I would get alone well with your parents.  Does your dad give out strange names at places like Starbucks where they want to call your name when your order is ready?  Last week I was Lunar at the Wacky Mongolian my husband was Pappa John (no his name is not john)... but you know those places might be a good way to see if a name fits.

That's great.  My mom is the one that comes up with creative names.  She already has nick names for our baby.

Oh, and I wanted to add that for some reason, I was not her favorite grandchild. :o
