Well, my son and one of my grandsons are are at family picnic that is being held too far from here for us to attend and my other grandson lives in Paris with his wife and three "almost out of the nest" kids...(14, 16 and 18.) Long weekend. Not really feeling sorry for ourselves because our lives are rich and full of good things...just, I don't know what, pensive?

A week from today we have designed another outdoor get together four miles from home at a salt water park. That will work. My hubby, 98 in Oct., will still need to come home for his nap but the proximity will make that possible.

We are lucky to still have each other and still there have to be adjustments on a regular basis to make it work. We used to jump in the car and off we'd go, without a thought. No more...not wise. But sometimes it's a little too quiet.

I know the feeling, Luise.....it's not a lot of comfort but just think of all your new kids you have on this site.  We admire your wisdom...it's amazing that you've continued to use your personality and wit and wisdom to help others in spite of all you've been through.

Your husband sounds like a wonderful person and he's lucky too to have you!!

What a warm and responsive person you are! Do you know a lot of people are neither of those things?

Thank you. There are so many "passages" in life and some seem to sneak up on you.

I am sweet, aren't I?  I am way too sweet for my own good. But, thank you, Luise....you are very sweet too and I appreciate you. :-*

True...true...once a sweetie, always a sweetie. ;D And this does feel like a family to me quite often. We're a motley crew but there's a strong bond building.

I'm glad the holiday is over and I can put my unrealistic expectations to rest. I don't even know what they were...too vague. I think we had exactly the right kind of 4th and I think nostalgia got me.

Good to have a place to tell it how it is. Wonderful, in fact! :D

Oh my gosh!  Does everyone have unrealistic expectations at holidays like I do?  I feel sad when I don't have something planned or somewhere to go on a holiday.  I dreamed of faaaaaaaaaaamily (what the MIL haters call his familiy gatherings) get togethers and it never happened.

Excuse me before I say it.  MUTATED FREAKOID, PUKEHEAD.  ;D  I c >:(ould go on but I will get in trouble.  Control freak, bottom feeding tramp.
