Its up to the Queen what Kate will be called ....Princess William of Wales as she's not royalty , or Duchess .....and I've got
a fascinator for my son's wedding .....lol
It's on TV here from 8AM Friday morning .
Loads of street parties going on here , all banks and schools are closed .
Already they are camping outside Westminster Abbey ...lol
St. Andrews University where they met is 10 miles from where I live , my daughter used to watch Wills play rugby .
I even queued behind him in the supermarket !! He's just a regular guy .
Just what we need as a future King , he might be 100 before he gets there though ...lol

This made my heart skip a beat, LL.

(((Blushes)))

I kind of wish I could get away with Fascinators and Hats over here in frump Philly!

I remember watching over and over again Charles and Diana's romance and wedding.  I was so fascinated by it.  I always found her to be charming and an incredible female.  I admired her and then later, pitied her.  I just haven't been able to get any excitement over this one.  I find myself just watching a few things and wondering how hard their lives must be to have to always be in the spotlight and being critiqued by people.

I know what you mean Pooh. My mom got up early to watch Diana's wedding, so I am keeping the tradition. Plus, I got up early to watch her funeral service.

The good thing is, Kate is a lot older, and she's beeing dating him for 8 years.

And, dear goodness...I hope that the family will be easier on her with the rules and pressure. I also hope us crazies that love gossip know how to mind our own business (isn't that a long shot?).

I remember I saw Sarah Jessica Parker at Tahoe in 2008. She's normal. I decided to not be "that" gal that runs up to her and gushes, asking for an autograph. No regrets for giving her space with her family.

Charles is such a wimp though ! Diana never stood a chance !
Wills is just an ordinary guy ........hope it works for them .. :)

Pooh

They both do seem to be very well-rounded invididuals.  I do hope they have a long happy life together.

I am glad to hear that from you, LL. I feel that, you being over there, knows these things better than me.

I remember reading articles around the time Charles was 28 (and single). They raved about  him in the U.S. like we do with Wills now.

We are awfully fascinated with all that royalty we don't have here!

William also came here for our famous fish and chips ...and queued for it , no airs and graces ....we all like him  :)
I think Kate has lost far too much weight though , gonna be a skinny bride ...just like my F/DIL , why do these girls
think they have to be skinny to be beautiful ?

Pooh

Because most all of the advertising, media, movie-star, model, tv world tells them they have to be.

What does Grandma think of Kate, LL?    Hope you're having a better day...

lancaster lady

I'm fine today , thankyou Rose .....
I don't think anyone knows what the Queen thinks of anyone ....she's very old school and never shows her feelings .
That's why Charles is such a wet fish , poor guy was sent to boarding school very young , brought up by nannies .
Diana showed her boys the real world , that's why I think Wills will do ok .
Wish my daughter had gone to St.Andrews Uni .....just think where I might have been going on Friday ....lol

;D ;D  Good to hear you're feeling better, LL.  I wondered how different things would be if Diana hadn't died.  I do think she'd be proud of her boys~

The rags are saying Kate already has plans for plastic surgery in keeping her more modern image.  I think thats what the weight loss was all about.  I'm hoping William can keep her centered in that area, he knows what Diana went through with eating disorders and body image issues.  And besides, Kate is very naturally beautiful imo.

I hope the tide starts turning in the media soon.  I already think skinny is out, unfortunately porn star look is in.  Hopefully we'll get to a more natural medium in the next generation.  Aging is beautiful, I'm not sure why they can't see that.

Plastic surgery hasn't done anyone any favors, IMO. Nicole Kidman's forehead looks like a flat screen TV, Kenny Rogers can no longer blink and Melanie Griffith was told by her own husband her lips were obnoxious and that's why she wasn't getting jobs.

Helen Mirren? Meryl Streep? Jamie Lee Curtis? Helena Bonham Carter?

If they've had anything done, it's very subtle and they've let themselves age beautifully. Better that way.

Plus....such a bad investment. My mom had a tummy tuck and had to stand up and sit up perfectly straight for six weeks. The doctor told her that to maintain, she'd have to exercise near daily. She is now planning a second surgery because the upkeep was too difficult to keep up with. The sad part is, she looks NO different than before, and she was gorgeous before.

At least the doctor turned her away when she said she wanted implants and an augmentation. I guess he wasn't all that bad.

Tara, 5 am on the BBC.

I wonder about what the plastic surgery is going to look like once these people get tired of doing it or running out of money.  So much maintenance.

Thank goodness that doctor talked your Mom out of that.

I'm all for people wanting to feel and look good, I don't have much problem with the idea of plastic surgery I guess.  But for someone so young like Kate to already be thinking about it?  Kinda turns my stomach.  And it seems like those who choose to do it just go way too far.

My grandmother had her eyes tucked and that was it, she looked nice.
