There is a reason why I live in Texas... and it's because I hate cold.. tonight they are predicting snow... SNOW in Texas... I'm so not thrilled.

Night before last they said with the wind chill it was 2 degrees.. my well pump froze, no water.. the power went off, no heat.  Thank goodness we have a swimming pool so I could fill the toilets.  I don't for the life of me know how you all do this for months and months and months without killing each other.

The weathermen say the temperature dropped to extreme levels last night

And everyone should check on the elderly and senile.

Are you OK???

Laurie,

I think we're just lucky. My dad had his first frozen pipe...after 27 years of living in the same house.

The electric though...we keep a few kerosene heaters around. We haven't lost power in 18 years due to ice, but we do lose power when someone hits a pole.

That is cute!!  Well we are in the middle of a heatwave 43 on the new scale I don't know what it is on the old scale,,,,well over a hundred.     I check on my elderly neighbor every day.    We play scrabble and board games for hours.   We both love it.    She is my second mum.      We live in the outback and are quite isolated.      I insisted she come over here (4k's through the paddocks)  to have a swim and keep cool tommorrow as we are having a blackout for 6 hours and her house is a little hotbox at the best of X's.    She is a tough lady and i would literally die if i lived without creature comforts..heating and cooling and inside loo.  I am 50 and yes pretty soft as far as comfort goes but nothing like many young people today.   i can doo without the latest whatever it is..

Hate snow :(

DH won't hear about moving yet.  I have to get those sun lamps to remain normal during the winter.

Well,  I think you have to be tough skinned to weather winters out....for once you do then you truly enjoy the Beauty of Spring and Summer...

Speaking of  weather we just had a major winter blizzard out her in Wisconsin--Tuesday eve-Wed.
We now have 2 feet of snow we had 60 MPH winds tuesday eve with the snow hammering away.  People were stranded on the roads coming home from work.  We even had the national guard out here helping people get home.  We also had Tidal wave warnings on top of everything else for the winds were coming off the lake, so the waves were reaching in excess of 8-10 feet high--spraying on the roads which left icy conditions...The meterologists have been predicting this major storm since last saturday--so it was not a surprise when it happened.  Our entire city was shut down on Wed--but we are back to normal within 24 hours.....

The good news is spring will be here next month..........

Pooh

Hats off to you ladies for being so tough!  We shut down schools and business here if we get 2 inches of snow!  We are so not equipped to deal with it.

What part of Texas are you in, Laurie?  I'm in DFW and it has been awful all week.  At one point the wind chill was -6....what the heck.  Then the weatherman said there would probably be about an inch of snow today...yeah, try 6 inches on top of the already frozen ice!!!

I'm a little farther south so we avoided most of the bad weather..but still had a tiny bit of snow last night.. I'm close to Houston.  Yep Dallas is to crazy and cold for me :)

We never went boating on Lake Livingston.. we use to go to Lake Sommerville... I found that if you zipped around the lake fast enough no one could see how awful you looked in your bathing suit... I was killing the kids on their giant intertube that we use to tow, and all that zipping was really burning up the fuel.. boating.. it was fun while it lasted.

I cannot tell you where I live or I'd have to...y'know.

Haha, j/k.  Well, I'm not really kidding I'm pretty paranoid so I'm still not going to tell you ;)

But suffice to say we only got like an inch and I still think it's way too much snow.  I went to the store the night before to stock up on food and supplies.  I also got hand warmers and firewood.  And a snow suit.
