Wise Women,
Last night Turner Classic Movies did an interview with The Other Luise (see link.) She is 101 years old.
So you see, Luise, you are a spring chicken.
I learned something about your name. And I wondered if The Other Luise is your cousin. She also was known as "The Viennese raindrop" due to her beauty and perfect face and skin. Even now she's quite beautiful and looks younger by far than her years.
Just a bit of fun,
Kathleen

I saw the interview and watched the movie. If I didn't have too many books on my nightstand right now I'd add The Good Earth.
Luise is an unusual spelling of a familiar name, but now it will always remind me of two very beautiful women.
Interesting and bitter-sweet. She has the name legitimately. I changed the spelling of my first name after I saw it in a novel (long forgotten) in 1980 when I divorced the "infidelity-guy." I also made up a new last name...becoming Luise Lake. But Val came along and ruined all of that by asking me to marry him in 1989. ;D ;D ;D
Luise,
What a wonderful and romantic post! Thank you for it!
I think it's marvelous that you changed your name after a long-forgotten novel! You truly are a kindred spirit----I don't think there's anything at all, just reading about it, that's "bittersweet" about you imagining and finding your own name, unless I don't have all the facts. In fact, check out "Anne of Green Gables" and this lovely literary angel insisting on "Anne, with an 'e.'"
It doesn't seem like Val ruined anything, but correct me if I'm wrong. He sounds like the love of your life---so lovely---
Yours for pseudonyms and changed names, and believe me, to all of us, you are "Luise" much more than legitimately.
So cool,
Kathleen
Bitter-sweet was about the other Luise. And of course, Val was worth it...even if his name had been "Snickenbergr!
Come over the Grab Bag and the thread Luise's New Camera to see what I have been up to recently. :o
Well, I am Faith.....and I have been toying with the idea of changing my last name to" HILL"..... ;)
