Poem to My Ex-daughter in Law
« on: May 18, 2009, 12:44:41 PM »
I wrote this little verse to my ex-daughter in law when my best friend died last week.

I need to feel the kind of hug
That only you can give.
I need to see the lovely smile
That in your eyes can live.

I need to hear the hearty laugh
That comes along with you.
I need to know that you are close
When faced with pain so new.

You are my friend...and that's a lot
To offer when I'm down.
You are my co-conspirator
When I release the clown.

You are my worthy mentor
When I'm feeling quite unwise.
And there are times, (a lot of them),
I praise you to the skies.

And so I feel you close to me
As I face this new strife.
I thank my lucky, lucky stars
You're always in my life.

No, you're not here but what the heck
I know you're in my heart
And writing to you in this way
Helps me when we're apart.

Thank you for being who you are
A priceless gift...that's true
No matter what comes next, my dear,
There is always, always you.

Luise -

It is such a beautiful poem, simple and from the heart! Your DIL is very lucky to have you as a MIL.  :)

Beautiful poem, Luise.  How wonderful you still feel good vibes with your ex-daughter in law.  I am hanging on trying to love my daughter-in-law; I will not let any of the family blame our problems on her - my son is a man and should have the sense and values we hopefully instilled in him.  I don't know how long it will last - loving her - but I hope I never become too sour about her.  Make sense?  Hope your husband is doing well - take care of yourself.  Just had a week at the beach with my nephew and nieces and their lovely little children - it did my husband and myself so much good to be around people who love us and believe in us.

Thanks again for everything.

Mary

Sounds great...that vacation. I was really hoping it would turn out that way for you!

And you are so wise not to get caught up in hating you DIL...it can erode the soul.

Oh, Luise!  That is such a sweet poem.  It was written from a loving heart and your relationship with your xdil has so much to do with your beautiful attitude.  I can learn so much from you.  You give me strength beyond words.  You are my hero.  How are you doing today?  And Val?
Love and hugs coming your way........

Hi Hope!

I'm happy you looked this up!  It is a beautiful poem from a loving heart and should be in the first folder (I believe).  I think it is hidden here, not that it isn't supportive or inspirational, it is.  I just feel it would be a wonderful introduction to this site in general.

What do you think about that?  Do you think it belongs there?  It's from Luise's heart and isn't that what this site is about?

Coco,
Welllllllllll, it is a poem, but it could be in the first folder, too.  How about both places?  Twice the exposure?  It's so beautiful......touching.

Coco,
I agree - this touching poem would be enjoyed by many more people in the first folder.  I don't think as many people take the time to look in the poem folder.  It is well worth the read.
Did your gs wear out his atv yet?

HAHAHA!  He hasn't worn out the ATV, but he's trying REAL HARD!  I love it!  it was hard to afford but I don't regret a penny spent on it!  It sits in the back yard during dinner and while he sleeps at night, covered with a tarp, and occasionally he turns on the back lights and goes out to pull the tarp up and touch it!  Makes my heart jump!  Thanks for asking.  I think he'll get many years of fun out of it (divide that by the price tag) - precious and priceless...

I hope your Easter was fun too!

Sending you such big hugs! - OH!  And PINGS!!!!!
