Islands of happiness
« on: March 06, 2012, 11:26:41 PM »
Dear WW, I just wanted to post a positive insight I had.
My life at the moment is pretty miserable and will probably be like this for a while. I'm waiting to turn the corner but the corner seems a long way off.

The positive thing in all of this is that I've developed a keen awareness for those moments of lightness that come round occasionally. They are like little islands and I do enjoy them so much. I breathe freely and take in the beauty of things around me. That is most life enhancing and prepares me for the journey over troubled waters ahead.

For example last Sunday I was cooking something with cabbage. Yes the humble cabbage! I cut off a large outer leaf, one of those to be discarded, and held it against the sunshine, streaming through the kitchen window. The beauty of this was just amazing. The light revealed its intricate pattern and delicate colour in shades of light green and milky white. I was totally in the moment and the memory of that leaf is part of me now. I open myself to these kind of experience. It doesn't cost anything and makes my heart sing if only for a short time ---- definitely worth it.

I think we would go mad if we were constantly aware of the beauty that surrounds us in every natural object so we have to pick our moments.

Islands of happiness! I hope they will get bigger as time goes on and maybe one day I will say: Land in sight! Wish me luck, ladies!

Beautiful.  I was watching the moon last night and thinking the same thing.  Take time to enjoy the beauty surrounding us.

I'm still not gonna say it.......

It was very clear and bright here last night.  I just kind of took a few minutes to stare at it and see the man-in-the-moon.

 :D A cooking analogy

To create a delicious sauce:
Take heed, too much liquid will mar the aroma of your sauce!
Reduce the stock until you get to the essence of flavour. (May take a while but time well spent!)
Enjoy the exciting pattern of useless steam evaporating while you are stirring the liquid.
Celebrate the taste of essential goodness when all that futile liquid has gone!

Hm, Hm, Hm!  :D

Belated: Many Happy Returns of the Day, Luise!

Haha, I have a friend who calls her birthday month "The Festival of (Friend's Name)".  She tells everyone about it, wherever she goes.  It cracks me up how often she'll get a free drink or dessert, or some other treat, to help her celebrate her Festival.  ;D

Also, if you turn your head sideways when you look at the full moon, you'll see that it's really The Bunny In The Moon.   8)
This too shall pass.  All is well.

If you can start the day without caffeine,
If you can always be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and boring people with your troubles,
If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,
If you can understand when your loved ones are too busy to give you any time,
If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,
If you can conquer tension without medical help,If you can relax without alcohol,
If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

...Then You Are Probably .........
