Kate, it's good on you that you raised a smart guy who is successful and confident enough to move across the country, spreading those wings to fly to new heights. I'm sorry you had to hear it second hand :(

You know, I used to say to my boys, 'visualise what it is you want, see it in your mind and then work towards it, and it will happen.'  That worked for them whether it was a national high jump championship, or an exam result.  It's just so sad that it doesn't work when what you really want is for your son to ring you.

Yup, our visualizations only work on stuff we can do, not stuff that requires action by someone else :(

What we can change are our reactions to what others do (or don't do.) It's sort of liberating in a way, but we have to adjust to it.

You are right Pen.  I have had my slip up, and I'm back in control now.

Good job, Kate! Now, please remind me when I forget, won't you?

Pen, this is why I love this place.  A perfect, humble response from you.  We all do occasionally slip and forget huh.....  A perfect place to be gently reminded when we do!  xoxoxo to the WW here.

Keys Girl, I read your post about letting go of the drama, conflict and getting on with your life.  I am at that point also.  And not trying please everybody ....that really struck home with me.  I've always been the peacemaker, try to get along and bring everyone together no matter what and I have to say I am tired.   I totally identify with your statement.  I have found that since I have removed myself from the drama and accepted that everyone has their own ideas I am a better person for me and my family and everyone I have contact with on a day to day basis.
