Thanks jill.  It gives everyone here a "sense" of a person to hear some background and besides that, we are just simply a nosey lot!  ;D

From everything you have written, it is obvious that you are a very strong, sensible person who has dealt with alot with your own life and your children.  I think you are on the right track with creating a new life for yourself!  It's hard, but once we start, we realize we are on the right track for ourselves.  Isn't it amazing what a new hairstyle can do for us?

I am however at a loss to know how i make more friends, it is too late to rekindle some friendships and others are still very much involved with their families with little time for outsiders,   i am as you say at a bit of a loss to know how to "get back into the saddle" (hopefully that is the right saying!!)
sorry for my long posts, hopefully that explains more about myself?
Jill

I noticed that too, Jill.  After all those years of  focus on intense relationships (finding a husband, trying to get pregnant, having kids, raising them, building a business (that we run from our home) I had to lift my head up and look around for other people again.  I realized that I don't need intense relationships so much as lighter ones from more people.

Once you reclaim some of your space and energy from your offspring I'll bet you'll rekindle some interests that'll lead you to other people.

I can say for me, I've found that life is full of people who are more fun and more interesting than the DS/DIL drama I was absorbed in!

Thanks, Doe.  Well, put! :) I am 84 and have found that it is never too late to make new friends. I live in church-owned retirement center that's not my faith and have still made some wonderful friends here over the last ten years. I also just joined a group of professional women that meets twice a month just for the fun of it. And then there's WWU where I "chat" with dear ones, daily!  8)
