Written after my father's death
« on: January 07, 2012, 07:15:21 AM »
You were the Atlas that held our earth
The Gravity that kept us together since birth

The Longitude that always brought us home as one
The Latitude that let us experience songs yet unsung

The Sun that warmed us when we were far away
The Moon that led us back when we went astray

The Desert that was there to dry away our tears
The Sea that calmed us through all our fears

The Heart that made our love strong enough to grow
The Mind that enlightened us to all we now know

That you were more to us than mere words can express
Just knowing you made so many feel blessed

Now you're gone to brighten heaven, no doubt
The world keeps turning, the sun hasn't burnt out

The wind still blows, fish still swim in the sea
But life's not the same, it never will be

The hope I have, my greatest concern
Is that we made you life happy and gave as much in return

I would like to thank you just for being you
And giving me a love so deep and so true

What an incredible tribute. My husband is 100. I know I'm giving it back because his face lights up  every day when I visit him in our nursing facility. We always hug each other silly…to the delight of the staff. You gave your dad the best because you are. You were his blessing. Men like your dad and my Val are rare.

Thanks Luise for the kind words, truly your husband is a special person for you to feel the understanding of my tribute. It's wonderful you are able to share those special hugs.

:) - We go down to the end of the hall so as not to make his roommate sad. The staff says the end of "A-hall" is the Volta's "make out corner!" Hugs, kisses, neck snuggles, back-patting, rocking back and forth…we're incorrigible! LOL!

I LOVE it, don't ever quit. My husband is 63 and isn't that active, but he tells me he loves me about 20 times a day and we do hold hands while watching tv or shopping  :)

Another beauty!  I hope you have all these written down in a journal.
