Wedding Songs
« on: January 06, 2012, 01:52:13 PM »
Well, it looks like YS and FDIL are going to do it this year!  (This is good news.)

At OS's wedding, I fretted over the Mother/Son dance since I'm not a public dancer very much.  I chose "Make Someone Happy" by Jimmy Durante and it went just fine.
Any suggestions for this next one?  I like the Dixie Hummingbirds version of "Love me Like a Rock" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eDGUfvh6PQ  but not really sure if it's a fit.

I really don't know what the significance of these mother/son dance songs are supposed to be.

Van "the man" Morrison also does "Have I Told You.." I like his version best, but I'm a Van-fan from 'way back. Check it out:

Congrats, Doe, on the upcoming wedding!   :)

My vote is :  "Because You Loved Me" ~Celine Dion

I think it's common - my DS wouldn't let me beg off.

Must be an American thing - no doubt some feisty, non-beige wearing MOTG stood up & demanded equal rights. If there's a father/bride dance, by gosh there should be mother/groom dance, lol.

And I had to work really hard not to bawl out loud during our dance, BTW!

LOL, Pooh!!! ;D ;D ;D  That cracked me up!!! ;D

I like "A song for momma" by boyz II men, but it's such a sentimental, sappy song.  Just thinking about the lyrics makes me cry.  I have one DS that if we were to dance to that song I'd know he felt the words, as he tells me and shows me all the time. But not the DS that brought me here. Sometimes he's remembers the good times we had, but he's made up and said so many bad things that I couldn't imagine myself sharing that song with him.

Since he's the DS who's the closest to getting married (has a baby on the way) I imagine doing one of those fun routines where we start off slow dancing but break out in a bunch of dances to different songs.
