Problem
« on: February 12, 2010, 04:44:58 AM »
during the day I've had a lot of problems connecting to this site, I get this message that says the site is busy?  And sometimes it won't allow me in for hours.....

has anyone else had this problem?

Just thought you should know....

I haven't experienced that, Creme but once in awhile it won't let me in but only for a short while.  I think maybe yours is to do with your email provider.

but I don't have that problem anywhere else?  It says the site is either busy or down, and I should try later....so, I was thinking of maybe pointing it down just in case it may be here at this end?

You may be right though?

Thanks chickie

That's usually your browser or ISP, C. Once in a while our webmaster has the site down for software updates and maintenance but not often.

However, since I am an un-techie, I will ask him your question and get back to you.

Creme,
I have that problem from time to time.  One reason (main one) is my service provider is a cheap guy and has lousy equipment.  The next reason, I find the weather plays a big part in it,  when we get lots of snow or rain the connecting lines get wet and service slows to dial-up speed or just nothing.  Yeah, I know the computer geeks and techs tell me I'm confused about it ....but THEY can't come up with an excuse that sounds any better.
Anyway, if the signal slows to a certain point then your computer takes over and times out too....compounding the connection problem.

Then the third reason....if they are working on the roads or sewers anywhere near you, it sometimes bothers the signal too.  The portable generators might be close to the cable line and they put up interference.

Kirk, here. I'm Luise Volta's son and technical administrator of this forum. The downtime you're describing is most likely caused for one of the following:

1.) The connections *between* your location and our server (currently, in Iowa) are called "hops" (like a bucket brigade). One of these connection points may be busy. There are tools that can check to find the busy hop, like running a "traceroute" from your computer (but is kind of technical).

2.) Our server is overloaded. Recently, we've been experiencing "high load" occurrences about once per day. The time is approaching where my company, HeartCore Corporation, will be purchasing a new and more powerful web server.

If you can reach other sites and not ours, it's usually not your ISP, but either one of the server hops on the route to our server or our server.

I appreciate the feedback and and please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Kirk, thanks so much for responding, and yes, I could reach any other site, but I wanted this one....LOL

couldn't get in sometimes for well over 2 hours...and yes, it happens to me a lot...

Well, I just wanted to let you know in case it was something on your end....

Have a great weekend & thank you
