Luise,
One more thing if you have the energy, is the fact that my DIL has an alcoholic immediate family member in her past (one of her parents), make her act the way she does?  I would love to understand!!

Luise,

I have been waiting a long time to meet you. I would love to have the benefit of your wisdom and understanding.

Feeling better means you will come back soon...I hope.

You and chickie have created a wonderful and greatly appreciated site.

Thank-you sooo much!

C/B - the place to get the answer to that questions is AlAnon. I'm sure you are on to something.

Report: I got my "walking-papers!"  ;D :D ;) ;D :D ;) ;D :) ;D :D ;) ;D :) :) ;D :D ;) :) ;D :D :)  ;D :D ;) :)

Yesterday's trip to the bone-doc revealed that the wedge-shaped fracture of my tibia has filled in and my bone is re-calcified! (Healed!!)

The doc was pretty surprised because I'm about 6 weeks ahead of what he expected for someone my age (which is 82 and 10/12ths.!)  YES!

The rest is up to me. I'm free to walk and drive! I can't believe it! My feet can't, either. After sitting for eight weeks...both feet are saying: "You wanna do what?"   ???

The catch of course is I am to use moderation and caution. Have to look both of those words up!!  All I know is "go like Hell or stay at home"....(which is how I got into this mess in the first place.)

So, I am to keep my wheelchair for when I am out of gas, my walker for when I feel wobbly, my boot for when need to walk long distances, my crutches for when I just need a "leg-up" (yes, pun intended) and my bed for when none of the above works.

The hitch, is that I must use discretion. I hate fine print!

In trying to make sense of this freedom, I'm keeping my 1/2 hour a day caregiver who comes in the evening...for two more weeks because I am always tired out by that time.  And I'm only trying new stuff for short periods of time in the AM, and then it tiny increments. Today it was walking...baby steps, of course...around the house while. Val kept asking if I was SURE I got permission?!! (I wonder why he doesn't trust me?)

In commemoration of my return to MILU, I have restored my picture I.D. to the site. Something has to look different because this is a new beginning for me.

Wish I knew how to come back without all the karma minuses by my name but they will always be part of my role, I suppose. They usually show up right before I have to escort someone to the door.

Thank you for your prayers and love and good wishes and encouragement!

How do I start? Should I have made this a new post? Where does an alien go to register?  ;D

What absolutely fabulous news! You must feel such relief. I know things aren't magically perfect all of a sudden, but this is a good start! Congratulations on your 'new beginning!'

Dear Luise

Didn't know what was wrong and I didn't want to pry, so while I'm sorry you had to endure such a plight, so so glad to hear your on your way to recovery.  I have a neighbor who had a similar problem...she's been in a wheel chair for well over a year, and she did not heal...therefore, they are taking her in next week and taking out the femor, and perhaps part of the hip, and replacing it with titanium....I'm worried for her...and cannot imagine the pain and ups and downs you and she experienced...
Her bones did not mend...so thank God your improving....sending well wishes for a speedy recovery and thanks again so much...for this website...if it were not for you, would have never rreconnected with Chickie, nor met all these wonderful ladys...

Thank you one and all for the warm welcome back!  ;D

No need to ever worry about prying, this is our place for sharing and we can always monitor that to suit ourselves. The hardest thing for me was to continue my care giving of my 98 year-old husband from my wheelchair prior to and after surgery. I could have put him into a nursing facility but he would have lost ground and never have been able to return home.

Of course it's not all smooth sailing here but that story about the lady who didn't heal sure brought it into perspective. I'm so sorry about her plight. I've put her on my prayer-list.

Right now, both feet are complaining after I go to bed regarding the fact that I am asking them to work again. A burning kind of discomfort that makes sleep impossible until the wee hours. Not serious unless it lasts. Two months in an electric wheelchair apparently made my feet really lazy!

I didn't know Creme and C/B were old friends.  :) Tell me about that. I'm so out of touch!

It's so wonderful to be back HOME on MILU!!  ;D

Luise, it's remarkable that you heal as fast as you do!!  I'm so glad.   Those burning feet must be terrible.  Ask the Dr. about that.  There has to be something for that.

As far as Creme and I knowing each other, it was that on one of  the MIL hate sites, I saw what  the ladies were doing to her and tried to take up for her but they banned me.  They are very mean!  It only happened once but it is something you remember! That's where the connection is.

Get better and better, Luise....so good to see you again. :)

Ah, Creme and C/B...e-friends! Wonderful!  :D

My feet slept last night. That's great progress because I was able to, too!! Not an easy task with winds gusting up to 90 mph and the power out, (of course.) Our retirement center is on a bluff right on Puget Sound with nothing between us and the Pacific Ocean except two islands. It' can get pretty wild and, at the same time, it can be wildly beautiful!

I have loved the welcomes that are still coming my way. Hi, Anna! I think the way to ease back in is to comment on new posts. So, look for me there.  ;D

Oh My Goodness! I know you are glad to get out of that chair. What a liberating experience to be set free. Just go slow and steady. Before long you will be back to your "always on the go" self. Congratulations for being a quick healer. I know your doctor is happy over your progress. He probably taking all the credit. ;)

Hi Luise!

I haven't had a chance to congratulate you on your first full night's sleep without your legs waking you up!  I'm so happy you're here!

Oh, and thank you!  This is a wonderful place with you in it!
