I never used them for teething, but they definitely helped with diaper rash!
This too shall pass.  All is well.

We tried it once or twice, but he drooled so much while teething that the gel just washed away and served no purpose.  He had a bad diaper rash at the same time, and was really hurting, so out of desperation at one point I put some Baby Orajel on his little butt, since benzocaine is a topical anesthetic.  First time he'd stopped crying in 2 days - nowadays I'd use Neosporin with pain relief, but I think its active ingredient is benzocaine as well.  I wonder if the warning also applies if the benzocaine is put on broken skin, since it would make sense that it's an absorption issue?
This too shall pass.  All is well.

A&D ointment was the bomb for gs' diaper rash.  I wonder if they have similar ingredients?

Yes it does! That as one of my silly rules daycare told me they couldn't grant me. She got diaper rash (fungal and bleeding) a week before daycare. I was like, "She's just been naked at home, can't you let her air out??"

They were like, "Um...no...but we do use triple paste like no tomorrow."

That was the only incident of diaper rash she's  had. I guess I was slacking with the diaper changes.

I'm kinda hoping I won't ever have to try anything again, since DS is now 17 and as far as I'm aware grandkittens and grandpuppies don't get diaper rash. :D  (If he does opt for having actual children, my mouth will stay very firmly shut on that topic as well as many, many others.)
This too shall pass.  All is well.

I mistaken diaper rash for a yeast infection once.. it happens

oh Holly just wait till she is exposed to head lice then you can feel badly as a mom :)  Really the rash probably had little to do with you slacking.. now if people held their noses while passing by you and your daughter then yeah slacking might come into play..

I had a cousin who at the age of two would say, 'Holly, can you put the desitin on me? I am very sore."

I was like..."UH...if you can say it...you can do it. Hop to it!"

It actually was a yeast infection, Laurie.

Head lice? I thought pink eye was bad. Mom always said she was surprise we never got head lice somehow. I guess they are common in schools?

The pediatrician recommended dd go naked.  I constantly used Desitin with her. She needed fresh air.  : )   It does work wonders.  The same applies to skinned knees.  They don't heal well under bandages & antibiotic ointment.

I agree Holly...  The trouble with dd was fair skin & teething.  It wouldn't have mattered if I'd changed her every 10 mins.

I don't know if head lice is any worse than pin worms.  I panicked just hearing a neighbors' child had them.  The joys of parenting... : )
